CENTER HEAD TEACHER

Shenzhen&Shanghai&Ningbo/Training School:

33K-34K, Full-time CENTER HEAD TEACHER Wanted.

2-year contract, asap preferred. Not late than End-April.

Job Description
1.    Working Hours: 40 working hours based on 5 days/week, 8 hours/day. (2 days off during weekdays)
2.    Teaching Hours: Up to 100 hours (no more than 25 hours per week). During peak seasons (July and/or August, January and/or February) there may be 20% raise in teaching hours according to center needs.
3.    Length of Contract: Prefer Two-year renewable contract with three-month probation. Salary raise for second-year is based on the first-year performance and evaluation.
4.    Class:Class Size: 6-12 students;Student Age:4-15 years

5.JOB DESCRIPTION: CENTER HEAD TEACHER
Reports to: Center Manager/Academic Director
The Head Teacher leads the Center Academic Department by maintaining pro-active oversight over all key areas: teaching quality, teacher care, student care, operations communication, and marketing. The Head Teacher facilitates workshops and trainings for the teacher and operations teams as necessary or requested. The Head Teacher works with the Center Manager to encourage the flow of communication and ideas between the teacher and operations teams. The Head Teacher collaborates with the Center Manager to strengthen the current customer base and build new business opportunities for the center.

The Head Teacher is responsible for upholding a positive, productive, and accountable teacher team culture. This includes pro-active and highly competent inter-departmental communication and assistance. Upholding Athena’s core values of collaborative teamwork and self-reflection.

The Head Teacher will teach up to a maximum of 70 regular teaching hours per month. In addition, they may be asked to perform other irregular teaching duties including, but not limited to: demo classes; make up classes; covering sick or absent teachers; and helping with marketing events. The maximum combined regular and irregular teaching hours should not exceed the contracted 100 hours per month. During the months of Summer and Winter Camps, regular teaching hours may be increased as per the contract.

This individual will also be expected to foster a professional, collaborative culture of personal and departmental responsibility and ongoing improvement and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities
Uphold the highest standards of professional behaviour, attitude, and appearance as per the Athena Code of Conduct and the Athena Employee Handbook.
Management
1. Pro-actively oversee the implementation of Athena curricula.
2. Pro-actively oversee screener and placement processes.
3. Pro-actively oversee Athena standards for monitoring, assessing, giving feedback, and reporting on students’ growth.
4. Pro-actively oversee teachers’ academic documents (e.g., lesson plans, course files).
5. Share teaching resources with colleagues at other Athena centers.
6. Support ongoing curriculum development of courses by retaining and sharing teaching resources and occasionally developing new resources under direction of Academic Management teams. Address any issues with teaching material and share potential solutions.
7. Organize and/or facilitate teacher training workshops that respond to individual teacher, center, and company needs.
8. Maintain updated and accurate records of individual teacher trainings and workshops.
9. Implement Athena standards for teacher performance appraisals, including formal and informal class evaluations, check-ins, and objectives setting.
10. Maintain updated and accurate records of each teacher’s class observations, evaluations, check-ins, and OKRs.
11. Organize focused and action-oriented weekly meetings with teachers.
12. Complete all reporting as assigned by Academic Management.
13. Pro-actively work with CM, HR, and Academic Management on staffing issues.
14. Conduct interviews of new teachers and be responsible for maintaining high interview standards.
15. Support the Center Manager with business development by helping with sales, referral and marketing events, etc.

Teaching
1. Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge students.
2. Plan and teach outstanding and engaging lessons that meet course syllabus goals and objectives while applying Athena teaching approaches.
3. Effectively deploy a range of strategies to manage and develop the classroom environment to create a welcoming, open, effective and positive learning environment.
4.Differentiate class instruction, activities and resources in order to maximise learning opportunities for all learners.
5.Apply appropriate forms of assessment to monitor student progress.
6.Provide timely and effective student feedback.
7. Update, maintain and submit a record of attendance, assessment and lesson planning using Athena course files.
8. Write student reports and participate in teacher-parent meetings as per Athena Guidelines.
9. Conduct student screeners and placement as per Athena guidelines.

Compensation and Benefits
1. Our package: 33,000-34,000 before tax, including basic salary and housing allowance: 4,000 RMB/month (depends on city)
2. Monthly Teaching Service Bonus:500RMB starting from the second year of employment. An additional 500RMB for each subsequent year.
3. Annual bonus: up to 110% of the one-month salary based on year-end Performance Evaluation.

Qualification&Requirements:
1.    English Language speakers from US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa
2.    BA degree or above
3.    120-hour TEFL preferred
4.    At least 2 year teaching experience
